Some of us are great at doing makeup; others need a little help.
I don't mean to dys- out any Mary Kay or Avon or Fashion Two-Twenty reps but pleaaase, a party is a party and makeup is makeup--I don't mix them!! Applying makeup is an ART, not Art Class. We're not playing with crayolas, here. And asking for a makeover at a beauty salon as part of your next haircut is not a bad idea, either. Stopping at a cosmetics counter can be great, but expensive, and you want to try out some looks before you commit.
This is a real searchable index for your favorite fragrances. I had a friend who loved something called "lulu" and could never find it...she'd found it in Australia years ago, and had to search high and low for it. Sometimes, if you really want something...it's worth looking for. (I got one whiff of that stuff and it said, YEAH, BABY!!! )
Fragrance is something you use with great care, too. It has to make you feel good about yourself and announce your presence, but not be so overpowering that it knocks flies dead at 10 paces. The good stuff will last you forever, so a few extra dollars is worth it--but you can get greaaat stuff CHEAP (there's such a huge markup on it anyhow) at places like The Body Shop, or this particular online fragrance counter that I like a lot. I don't get stuck with high prices or with a limited product line--they have HUNDREDS of fragrances. Ever try layering your fragrances?
Another one to try if you really love good quality scents is Yves Rocher (that's "EEV ROE-SHAY", for you non-French speakers):
I don't look younger than my years for nothing, folks (this pic was taken at the DMV when I was 39, okay? I kid you not). I avoided the sun my whole life long. ALWAYS apply a good moisturizer to your skin and face especially, every day, and one with a sunblock in it is the best. And try not to squint, whether it's because you're nearsighted, or it's because it's too sunny...get eye protection. That squinting really makes crow feet jump out from almost nowhere, just like frown lines will do.
EXCELLENT cosmetics buys: great products, BEST prices. I don't advise spending big money on cosmetics just for the name or the promises they make; sometimes the cheaper stuff does the best job, and other times you get nothing but what you pay for. This place is great for offering quality stuff for the BEST prices:
